I know what it's like to think about a food excessively. For me it used to be brownies.

I remember at any given time during the day, an image of a brownie would pop up in my head.

Once the image appeared, a few things would happen...

First, I'd tell myself that it wasn't healthy for me. As compelling as that sounds, that wouldn't make the image go away.

Second, I'd tell myself that I really didn't need a brownie right now because I was doing more important things like working or spending time with family. The image would remain.

Third, I'd think about all the times before when the image popped into my head, I said those two previous things, didn't listen to them, ended up getting up and leaving whatever I was doing to get a brownie, and then eating it and feeling awful afterwords.

Finally (just as you probably have hundreds of times), I'd get up, leave whatever I was doing to get a brownie. Then I'd eat it (ALL of it) and feel awful afterwords.

I think the worst part about succumbing to the cravings was not only the emotional pain of not being able to control myself but also the physical pain of a stomach ache from eating too much brownie.

It was a self-proclaimed prophecy that would endlessly repeat itself.

I'm sure you're been there before.

What finally kicked my craving for brownies was this...

Finally, I realized that this behavior needed to stop - it wasn't good for my health, my emotions or my abs - so I started to look around for solutions.

What I found was a serious discrepancy between what people were saying about eliminating cravings and what really was working for real people with real cravings.

The reason I know there was a discrepancy, is because I started to try many of the techniques and they just didn't work.

After a while, I felt that maybe brownies would imprison me for life and I'd never be able to escape their clutches.
